Erma Zabrosky Prohonic, age 82, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 29, 1935, in Windber, PA, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Elizabeth Prem Zabrosky.
Mrs. Prohonic was a 1954 graduate of Windber High School. She married her late husband, John in 1954. She worked as a homemaker most of her adult life, creating a beautiful home for her family. She enjoyed baking, sewing, singing, and most of all, being a mother. Mrs. Prohonic loved to collect antiques, especially roosters. Although very proud of her Hungarian descent, she was also an enthusiastic member of the Polish Committee.
Surviving are three children, Lisa Gasswint (husband Scott) of Pittsburgh, PA; Lori Group (husband Don) of Pittsburgh; and Jon Prohonic of Chambersburg, PA, two grandchildren, Greta Gasswint of Pittsburgh and Nathan Prohonic of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Steven, Frank, John, Mary, and Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10AM on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where the Very Rev. Fr. Luis R. Rodriguez will celebrate. Interment will follow the Mass in Corpus Christi Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Rd # 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
