Ernest William Myers, age 93, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Menno Haven Nursing Center, Chambersburg, PA. Born April 25, 1922, in Bucks County, PA, he was the son of the late Elmer and Emma Martin Myers.
A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Myers served honorably during WWII. Mr. Myers worked for over 35 years at U.S. Gauge in Sellersville, PA, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, landscaping, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his daughter, Susan J. Thompson (husband Robert) of Chambersburg, PA, two grandchildren, James Thompson(wife Dawn) of New Cumberland, PA and David Thompson (wife Sarah) of Harrisburg, PA, three great grandchildren, Riley, Kyleigh, and Braylon Thompson, a sister, Verna Fox (husband Vernon) of Quakertown, PA, and a sister in law, Virginia Myers of Quakertown, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Merinda Berutti Myers on October 25, 2006 and six siblings.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, at 2 PM at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Dr. Neal O. Hively will officiate. Military honors will be offered by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1 Luther Ln, Trumbauersville, PA 18970 or Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 W. Commerce St, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
