Ernesto L. Cruz, age 64, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Hershey Medical Center. Born in Uvalde, TX, he was the son of the late Pablo and Barbara Lemen Cruz.
A U.S. Army veteran, Ernesto served his country honorably for 20 years, retiring in 1986. After retirement Ernesto devoted time to the Keystone Health Center as a translator for the migrant and HIV Programs. He loved spending time outdoors, mowing the lawn, and with family, especially his granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Margaret Dotterrer, whom he married on June 5, 1973; his children, Ki Cruz (wife Selena) of Shippensburg and Malia Black (husband Cory) of Shippensburg; a granddaughter, Ashley Cruz; and a number of other family members throughout Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Barb Servello will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 7-9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday in the Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery.
