Esther Gift

Esther G. Gift, 94, of Mechanicsburg, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, PA passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in Messiah Lifeways. Born April 11, 1929 in Shippensburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Samuel J. D. and Hilda C. (Kriner) Mull.

She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School. Esther was employed as an office manager for Strickler Insurance Agency, Chambersburg. She retired in 1994 after 45 years of service. She was an active member of Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered in a number of different areas including the kitchen and fundraising. Esther was a member of the Valley Cedarettes, Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Ladies Auxiliary, and BPOElks 600. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and traveling with friends and family.

She is survived by her son, Stephen P. Gift and his wife Kelli of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Phillip Gift, Ryan Gift and his wife Lisa, Wyatt Seig and Hayden Seig and his wife Julianne; two great-grandchildren, Finley and Brody; a nephew Sam Mull and his wife Becky, and a niece, Kimberly Diehl. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, M. Leroy Gift who passed away February 25, 2008 and her brother, Richard E. Mull and his wife Gladys.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 30, 2023 in Solomon’s Lutheran Church, 4856 Wayne Road, Chambersburg 17201 with Rev. Michael Allwein officiating. Private interment in Grindstone Hill Cemetery will immediately precede the service. There will be no public viewing however; there will be a time of fellowship following the service.
