Esther L. Nixon, 84, of Fayetteville, PA, died at 3:45 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at The Village of Laurel Run. Born December 20, 1926 in the Greencastle area, she was a daughter of the late Chalmers Abram and Carrie Mae Wolfe Deardorff. A homemaker most of her life, Esther had at one time been employed at the former Stanley Company and Pennsylvania Apple Packers, both in Chambersburg. Her beloved husband, Robert Emory Nixon, preceded her in death on May 7, 2008.
She is survived by four children, Larry Nixon and wife Gail of Chambersburg, Judy Nixon of Fayetteville, Joyce Leduc and husband David of Chambersburg, and Randy Nixon of Independence, MO; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Emory Gerald Nixon; two great-grandchildren; five brothers; and one sister. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, November 7, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
