Esther Lorrayne Rowles, age 95, of Amberson, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center after a brief illness. Born in Amberson on November 12, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. and Gertrude Piper Wilson. Mrs. Rowles was a life-long resident of Amberson where she had lived in her home up until the last two weeks. A homemaker, Mrs. Rowles cherished her time with her family, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, word search puzzles, and gardening.
Surviving are three children, Mary June Campbell (husband James) of Doylesburg, PA; Doris Campbell (husband Ralph) of Doylesburg, PA; and William B. Rowles, Jr. (wife Terry) of Amberson, PA, a daughter in law, Shirley Rowles of Burnt Cabins, PA; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren, and a brother, Gambel Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Bryan Rowles, Sr. and a son, Gary Rowles.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, PA; where Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Amberson Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, PO Box 128, Spring Run, PA 17262.
