Evelyn Marie (Wingert) Gayman, age 93, Chambersburg, daughter of the late Ira P. Wingert and Gail C. (Dice) Wingert, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 7th, 2021.
Evelyn and her husband shared ownership and operation of a 100-acre dairy farm for 50+ years. When they moved off the home farm, she raised rabbits as a hobby and she enjoyed naming and caring for each one for many years. For 25 years (1982 to 2007), she was a school bus driver with an impeccable driving record for Meyers Bus Lines in Chambersburg and loved to be behind the wheel in her M14 bus and greeted each child with a smile and a word of encouragement. She was an avid gardener most of her life and enjoyed managing both flower gardens and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed supporting her husband at various farmer’s conventions and collected salt and pepper shakers at each event or state that they visited. She enjoyed making quilted keepsakes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was an expert jigsaw puzzle assembler. Mrs. Gayman was an active member of Crider’s United Brethren Church.
She loved her family and looked forward to calls and visits from children, spouses, and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, D. Eugene Gayman, who died just six months ago on November 21, 2020. She is survived by 4 children, Dennis (wife Cheryl Kendall) Gayman, Karen (husband Michael) Brindle, Randy (wife Lois Myers) Gayman, and Kathy Cooper, all of Chambersburg.
