Evelyn B. High, 86, of Kearneysville, WV, died Tuesday evening, July 22, 2014 at the Winchester Medical Center. Born June 25, 1928 in Hagerstown, MD, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Earl and Mary Ramona Price Wolford. A graduate of North Hagerstown High School and a homemaker most of her life, she had worked as a seamstress at the former Butte Knit in Chambersburg, PA. Evelyn enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends. She went from the east coast to the west coast and everywhere in between. She also enjoyed sewing. Mrs. High was of the Protestant faith. Her husband, Glenn Ray High, preceded her in death on May 9, 1982.
She is survived by four children, Gerald Gigeous, Jr. and wife Gina of Charles Town, WV, Deborah Snyder of Williamsport, MD, Terry Gigeous and wife Alissa of Carlisle, PA, and Donna Jones and husband Kenneth of Kearneysville, WV; ten grandchildren, James Gigeous and wife Maureen, Robert Gigeous and wife Sandy, Christi Finnerty and husband Ian, Dwayne Snyder and wife Michelle, Ginger Snyder, Zach Gigeous, Emily Gigeous, Kirstyn Gigeous, John Zapotocky, and Renee Duncan and husband Darren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Louise Hubble, Nadine Frush, Erma Kline, and Frances Lowery; two brothers, Hubert Wolford, Jr. and Kenneth Wolford; and her dear friend, Joe Williams. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Meacomes; and a brother, Francis Wolford.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17601.
