Evelyn McElwain

Evelyn McElwain, 71, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 30, 1949 in York Haven, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Charles Oscar Millhouse, Jr. and Leona Gertrude (Yeager) Millhouse.

A 1968 graduate of the Scotland School for Veterans Children, Evelyn went on to work as a seamstress at the J. Schoeneman Company and then as a records keeper for the Mont Alto Family Medicine. She was an avid bowler and was also active in the Alumni Association at the Scotland School for Veterans Children. She was a member of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael R. McElwain, whom she married on November 21, 1976; daughter Mandi McElwain (husband Shawn White) of Glenside, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Brandon and Bryce White; step-daughter, Michelle Grove of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; and step-grandchildren Rachelle Poper and Justin Traxler; and siblings Charles Millhouse of Rome, NY, Doris Jean Hockenberry of Fayetteville, PA, Edward Millhouse of Chambersburg, and Phyllis Eyer of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-grandson, Robert Poper, Jr. and brother Harold Millhouse.

Private services are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
