F. McCartney

F. Fred McCartney 84, of Dry Run, died on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Born on February 4, 1930 in Spring Run, he was the son of the late Francis N. and Florence Weiser McCartney. Fred was a graduate of Dickinson College. He was an educator in Southern Huntington School District, but his main trade and love was as a business man and livestock trader. Fred was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also an accomplished baseball player who spent time playing in the Phillies organization. Fred honorably served his country in the U.S. Army.

Fred is survived by his wife Carolyn Long McCartney, whom he married on February 19, 1955; a son, Michael F. McCartney and wife Lisa A. of Dry Run, PA; a daughter, Terry J. Shade and husband Jeffery L. of Chambersburg; 5 grandchildren; Erin M. Rozniakowski, Lauren F. and Melissa M. McCartney, Jessica L. Briggs and Emily J. Shade; and 2 great-grandchildren Kenley and Sebastian Rozniakowski.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30AM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA 17220. The Rev. Dr. Megan Boozer will officiate. Interment will follow in Upper Path Valley Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by James W. McCartney American Legion Post 232, Dry Run.
