Florence M. (Sites) Burkholder, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born December 12, 1928, in Culbertson, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur L. and Della Stewart Sites.
A 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Florence worked at the former Kenny’s Scotland Road Market in her younger years. She retired as Head Cook at Grandview Elemantary School in Culbertson. She was a life long member of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church and attended regularly before her illness. She enjoyed doing word search books and playing pinochle in her retirement.
Florence is survived by four children, Douglas E. Burkholder of Fayetteville, Paul S. Burkholder (Cheryl) of Fayetteville, Steven W. Burkholder (Barb) of Shippensburg, and Sandra M. Fisher (Jeffrey) of Shippensburg; six grandchildren, Paulette Forney (Tim), Troy Burkholder (Shanda), Scott Burkholder (Kendra), Michelle Brechbill (Brian), Heather Cook, and Nicole Burkholder; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul H. Burkholder on October 17, 1993; her brother, Dr. Wilbur L. Sites, Jr.; and three sisters, Velva Cormany, J. Marie Hawk, and Delores Hargleroad.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 22, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Garry Culler will officiate. A graveside service will follow on Monday at 11:30 AM in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.
