Florence A. Kessling, 78, of Chambersburg, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 20, 1939, in Madera, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Nancy Russin Raffin. Florence was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chambersburg. A homemaker most of her life, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, decorating and her beloved dog Oliver.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Clarence E. Kessling, whom she married on October 18, 1983; her daughter, Kim Hawkins Newby and husband John of Williamsport, MD; two step-sons, Robert A. Kessling and wife Susan of Altoona, PA, and David Kessling and wife Tracy of Hollidaysburg, PA; three step-grandchildren, Michael, Crystal and Tim Kessling; and two step-great grandchildren, Chloe and Dylan Kessling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Raffin.
The family will receive friends 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. A memorial service will be held in her honor at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 S. 2nd Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Carenda Baker will officiate.
