Florence F. “Torney” Pheil, 97, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully at Menno Haven on Friday, August 26, 2016. Born on May 30, 1919 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late P. Krouse Fisher and Anna Blanche Crist Fisher. She was the widow of Wayne Pheil, who preceded her in death on August 8, 2004. Torney was a faithful member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and also a member of the Burt J.Asper American Legion Post 46 Ladies Auxilary in Chambersburg. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper at F&M Trust Company. Torney loved life’s simple pleasures, like spending time with her family, playing cards, working on puzzles and taking walks. She is survived by her son, Barry Pheil (companion Carol Baldassari) of Chambersburg and one sister, Lois Shropshire of Farmington, NM, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 29, in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, with Chaplain Lori Witmer officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Chambersburg Hospital 112 N 7th St; Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Ave.; or to Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter 5051 Letterkenny Rd.
