Foster E. Shoop, age 83, of Spring Run, PA, passed away suddenly in the Hershey Medical Center, as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Born August 16, 1930 in Spring Run, PA, he was the son of the late Charles S. and Rebecca Kiser Shoop.
A self employed dairy farmer all his life, he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hunting, attending races, and baseball, which he played until he was 39. He also enjoyed collecting antiques, especially Spring Run Rockers and riding his Gator around the farm.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 59 years, D. Joan Geyer Shoop, whom he married on February 27, 1954; four children, Sandra Joan Pechart (husband Kirk) of Amberson, PA, Steven Harry Shoop (wife Norma) of Spring Run, PA, Bob Eugene Shoop (wife Laurie) of Spring Run, PA, and Bill Foster Shoop (wife Kriste) of Spring Run, PA; eight grandchildren, Shawn Pechart ( Karen), Carrie Briggs (Michael), Melissa Shoop (Travis), Tammy Reeder (Troy), Nikki Rosenberry (Rick), Alyson Campbell (Aaron), Brandon Shoop, and Travis Minium; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Reba Varner, Mabel Jones, Kenneth Shoop, Leroy Shoop, Jay Shoop, Marie Gayman, and Betty Lou Shoop.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11 AM at the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, 16950 Main St., Spring Run, PA, where Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Upper Path Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 128, Spring Run, PA 17262. Arrangements are entrusted to the Agett–Geisel Funeral Home, Dry Run, PA.
