Foster Seton Wyant was born on October 19, 2004, in Chambersburg, to Trevor R. Wyant and Lenore D. Wyant (Moton). He is the big brother of Gabrielle R. Wyant, age 4. Foster is the maternal grandchild of Donna Moton, Chambersburg and Lonnie Moton, Carlisle. He is the paternal grandchild of Robert & Helen Wyant, Chambersburg. He is the maternal great-grandchild of John M. Boise (Village of Laurel Run) and the paternal great-grandchild of Dorothy Wyant (Shippensburg Health Care Center). He is the nephew of Francine & “Papi” Rodriguez and Justine Swain, both of Charlotte, NC and Charles Wyant Jr., Shippensburg.
On Monday, October 18, 2010, one day shy of his sixth birthday, Foster’s family received the devastating news that through MRI a dark area was seen on Foster’s brainstem. The diagnosis of a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a malignant cancerous tumor most often found in children between the ages of five and nine was confirmed at Hershey Medical Center, the next day, Foster’s birthday. Following the diagnosis (and a great birthday party) was travel to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, where Foster and his family lived in the Memphis Ronald McDonald House. During the three month stay Foster endured, 6 weeks of daily radiation, two surgeries an endless number of test and daily at home chemotherapy. Despite these challenges Foster remained a fun loving child. He enjoyed the different foods while in Memphis, ate the biggest donut he’d ever seen and began a new found love for Spongebob. Foster put a smile on the face of everyone who had contact with him. Whether his infectious laugh and broad smile or his innate ability to tell jokes like a pro, everyone loves Foster. He is an inspiration to adults and children who are facing any challenge. An inspiration to never give up, to laughing when you feel like crying and to trying new things (even if they seem gross).
In Spring 2011, Foster graduated kindergarten at the Montessori Academy of Chambersburg. An extremely articulate child, Foster loves to learn and to teach others. He is a member of the John Wesley AME Zion Sunday School. Foster also enjoys reading, swimming, soccer, running, t-ball, basketball, snow tubing and traveling. He thoroughly enjoys food, and has a knack for creating unique sandwiches. At an early age Foster’s engineering abilities became evident through the elaborate Thomas the Tank train tracks he enjoys building. Also a lover of the Disney Cars movie series Foster has an extensive Cars collection.
On the morning of Saturday, October 8, 2011, eleven days shy of his seventh birthday day, Foster Seton Wyant ascended into heaven while in the loving arms of his mother and father. Upon his arrival he was greeted by his great-grandparents, Emory & Bessie Saunders, Charles Wyant Sr, Rosa Boise and Berry & Willie Mae Moton.
