Frances George

Frances W. George, age 76, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Long Island, NY; passed away at the Penn Hall Nursing Center Wednesday morning, August 8, 2012. Born in Hackensack, NJ on July 24, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John and Lillian Larson Wictorin.

Mrs. George was a 1954 graduate of Ridgefield Park High School in New Jersey and a 1958 graduate of Wilson College. A real estate executive, she served on the Long Island Board of Realtors, the Wilson College Alumni Association, and was a Board Member of Menno Haven’s Northfield Counsel.

Surviving are her daughters, Janet G. Fell (husband Edwin) of Sudbury, MA; Marjorie D. George of Chambersburg, PA; and Jennifer M. Yaukey (husband Donovan L.) of Shippensburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christopher, Timothy, Hailey, Jessica, Francesca, and Donovan D.; a sister, Linda Kaany of Miami Shores, FL and a sister-in-law, Mildreth George of Greenwich, CT. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter D. George on January 21, 2008 and a daughter, Betsy George.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Menno Haven, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA; where Chaplain Robert Keener will officiate. There will be a Memorial Service in Long Island, NY with the date and time to be announced later. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her name to Wilson College Alumni Fund, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Betsy George Memorial Fund at Franklin Pierce University, 40 University Drive, Rindge, NH 03461.
