Francis Hare

Francis E. Hare, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Monday morning, October 20, 2014 at his home. Born May 6, 1927 in Littlestown, he was a son of the late John E. and Ora Bankert Hare. Francis was a 1946 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot. Early in his life he worked as an usher and projectionist at the Capital Theater. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where he served as a Lector and sang for fifty years with the church choir. He also sang with the Resurrection Choir and volunteered for ten years at the Adoration Chapel. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1426, a former President and Officer of AARP Chapter 2840, a member of NARFE Chapter 1063; and a charter member of the Franklin Fire Company. His hobbies included woodworking, bowling, hunting, and golfing. Francis was a very quiet man who always felt that he could learn more by listening than talking.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Patricia A. Peters Hare; three children, twins Richard W. Hare and wife Carolyn Albritton of Milton, FL and Cynthia Ann Shrader and husband David of Chambersburg, and Kenneth E. Hare and wife Mary Ann of Fountain Hills, AZ; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Charles Edward Hare and wife Mary of Shippensburg.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, October 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Fr. Luis Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
