Frank “Bud” Ile, Jr., age 84 of Willow Hill, PA; passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 in the Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Frank, Sr. and Bulah C. Smith Ile.
A U.S. Army veteran, Bud served honorably during WWII, he then went to work as a mechanic at Letterkenny Army Depot until his retirement in 1983. Bud was the current owner and operator of Ile’s Car Wash in Willow Hill; in addition he owned Ile’s general store for 38 years until it’s closing in 1994. An active member of the community, Bud was a member of the James W. McCartney Post 232 American Legion,; the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post 6168, where he was a life member; the Path Valley Lions Club, where he was a member for 53 years, and where he served on the board of director’s and where he was awarded the Melvin Jones award, Lion of the Year award, and several President’s awards; the Path Valley Cemetery Association, where he was the current President; and the Fannettsburg Community Association.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 39 years, Della M. Woods Ile, whom he married on July 29, 1972; two siblings, Don Ile (Kay) of Spring Run, PA and Betty Geyer of Fannettsburg, PA; and one nephew, Robert D. Geyer (Dena) of Chambersburg PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Taylor Ile in 1972.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 1:30 PM in the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main St., Dry Run, PA; where Rev. James Fox and Rev. Phil Foster will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16 from 7-9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will follow the service in the Upper Path Valley Cemetery; where military honors will be provided the James W. McCartney Post 232 Color Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Metal Township Fire Company.
