Frank S. Karpowicz, 76, of Chambersburg, PA, died Saturday morning, June 16, 2012 at his home. Born May 23, 1936 in Ashland, PA, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Bertha Pietrewicz Karpowicz. Frank was a 1954 graduate of JW Cooper High School in Shenandoah and a 1958 graduate of Penn State University. He served in the US Army from 1958-1960 and was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, retiring in 1985. Following his retirement from Letterkenny he was employed by the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and good friend to many. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1426, and Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, all in Chambersburg. Frank was a lifelong Penn State fan.

He is survived by his wife, Mille Fordyce Karpowicz, whom he married April 20, 1963; two daughters, Melanie Furlong (with Mike Hoffman) and Angela Karpowicz (husband Michael Schwartz); three grandchildren, Alexa and Samantha Furlong, and Gabriel Francis Schwartz; a sister, Mary Alice Westphal (husband Frank); a nephew, Mark Hopkins; and a niece, Lisa Kroll. He is also survived by his God-son, Michael Redding.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. James R. O’Brien at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow at Norland Cemetery.
