Frank L. Shatzer, age 90, of Chambersburg, PA, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Born May 12, 1931, in Hamilton Township, Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Russel J. and Emma C. Lehman Shatzer.
Frank was a graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim High School Class of 1950. He went on to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1952, serving honorably during the Korea Conflict until 1956. After his discharge, he was employed by United Telephone of PA, where he retired after 40 years of service in 1993 as an Installation/Repair Supervisor. Frank enjoyed farming, traveling, camping, steam engine shows and collecting antique machinery. He dearly enjoyed spending time with his family. Frank was a long-time member of King Street Church, having served as Junior/Senior High School Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher for 22 years, as well as serving several terms on the Official Board and Personnel Relations Committee and Offering Collector. He was also a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Cumberland Valley Antique Machinery and Engines.
Surviving is his wife of 68 ½ years, Evelyn Shinham Shatzer, whom he married on December 28, 1952; two children, Rebecca Brechbill (Sherwin) of Chambersburg, PA and Samuel Shatzer (Colleen) of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren, Adam Brechbill (Janelle)of Chambersburg, PA, Ash Brechbill (Rochelle) of Chambersburg, PA, Aaron Brechbill (Lindsay) of Waukesha, WI, Andrew Brechbill of Chambersburg, PA, and Annette Ayrapetian (David) of Alexandria, VA; 8 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Blaine Shatzer of Middletown, MD and June Fahnestock of Chambersburg, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Edna Condon, Della Lockbaum, Treva Lawyer, Melda Burkholder, Beda Stouffer, and Garnet and John Shatzer.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 1 PM at King Street Church, 162 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201, where Rev. Ron Cook and Rev. Jody Bowser will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Sanctuary on Sunday, June 20, 2021, from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service at the above church. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to King Street Church Samaritan Fund, Missionary Fund, or Youth Ministries.
