Mr. Franklin W. Sturtz, 86, of Chambersburg, PA passed away the morning of Friday, September 11, 2020 in Providence Place where he had resided for the last four years.
Born September 9, 1934 in Hagerstown, MD he was the son of the late LeRoy and Grethel (Gorman) Sturtz. He attended Waynesboro Area Schools and graduated with a GED from the military. Mr. Sturtz served with the United States Army from February 29, 1952 until his honorable discharge May 13, 1959.
He and his late wife, Mrs. Delores (Palmer) Sturtz, were married September 7, 1955 in Hagerstown. Mrs. Sturtz passed away January 29, 2009.
Mr. Sturtz was employed for Squires as a road salesman for over 20 years. He retired in 2008.
He was a life member of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 and the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 both in Chambersburg. Mr. Sturtz enjoyed coin collecting, gardening and spending time working in his yard.
He is survived by three children, Deborah Farner and her husband Barry, Cheryl Gayman and her husband Dennis and Shane W. Sturtz all of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren, Stacey, Lilaney, Brett, Catherine, Douglas, Shane, Kyle and Saxton; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris O’Connor of Michigan.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
