Freddie Jordan

August 13, 1934 — January 20, 2017

Freddie Devior Jordan, 82, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Far Rockaway, Queens, NY, passed Friday, January 20, 2017 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 13, 1934 in Butler County, AL, he was a son of the late Henry and Ella Banks Jordan. Freddie was an auto mechanic and an ordained minister. He had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. All of his neighbors in Far Rockaway took their cars to Freddie to be repaired. At one point, he built a shack on a lot where he would repair cars and spend time visiting with his friends and playing checkers. He also loved to fish.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ethel Jordan; five children, Monique Butler, Sparkle Breland (Chad), Derrick Haynes (Sandra), Frederick Haynes (Melissa), and Cassandra Gaston; five step-children, Cesear Butler (Ann), Nadine Butler, Terry Shivers (Robert), Barry Divine Butler (Shannon), and Tammy Butler; his son-in-law Arthur Gardner; and two “adopted sons”, Arnold “Ark” Hunter and Lindell Hughes; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sister, Rebecca Hale; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three step-children, Loretta, Stewart, and Carlos; and nine siblings, Mamie, Lula Mae, Cassie, Gennie, Edith, George, Oscar, Willie, and Jimmy Lee.

There will be a viewing from 3:00 until services begin at 4:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be private.
