Frederick D. Berger, 72 years of age, of Chambersburg PA, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He is survived by his wife Donna Waddleton; mother, Edna Cooper of Windsor North Carolina; his three daughters Lorrie Berger, Lisa Cannon and husband Austin, Lynette Doyle and husband Joseph ; grandchildren, Austin, Kaitlyn, Jacquelyn, and Samuel. He was pre-deceased by his father Emil Berger and his sister Dorothy Berger.
Married for 25 years to his wife Donna, they shared many homes in New York, Michigan and Indiana settling in Chambersburg in 2009. Here they found a place to enjoy their passion for golf at Penn National, and practice their deep faith at St. Ignatius Loyola.
Fred loved his three beautiful daughters, doted on his four grandchildren and was lovingly called Grandpa Froggie. His lifelong devotion to his Mother Edna Earl Berger Cooper was evident up to his last days when he spent Mothers Day weekend with her in NC.
Fred was a proud veteran of the US Army where he served in Germany during the Vietnam Era.
God, Duty, Honor, Country was his life motto.
There wasn’t a flower Fred couldn't grow, an item he couldn't build or fix, or a heavy heart he couldn't lift. His heart was pure, selfless and generous. His contagious laugh and twinkling eyes made your heart sing. This world has lost a brilliant light and he would hope all who loved him would follow his example and shine on. Fred always reminded us of the secret to a happy life, which was to do for others. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 22, 2017, at St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 1095 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA. Father Dominic M. DiBiccaro will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Ignatius Loyola Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 8:30 – 10:00 AM at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
