Frederick K. Gardner, 82, of Chambersburg, PA, died Thursday evening, November 6, 2014 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 16, 1932 in Roaring Spring, PA, he was the son of the late C. Earl and Ruth Rosen Gardner. Mr. Gardner retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He served at the Pentagon for most of his military career but had also been stationed in Panama and England. He was a private investigator and at one time owned and operated the Blueberry Hill Restaurant in Tampa, FL. He was an avid golfer and a member of the local stamp club. His wife, Geraldine Showers Gardner, preceded him in death in 2003.
He is survived by three children, Paul Gardner and wife Janet of Chambersburg, Linda Butts of Fayetteville, and Marvin Gardner of Orange City, FL; six grandchildren, Jennifer Spencer, Ashley Wenger and husband Jordan, Erin Gardner, Spring Freerksen, and James and Jeremy Butts; six great-grandchildren, Mia and Bryce Esquivel, Madison Spencer, Griffin, Ava, and Ian Wenger; and two sisters, Connie Van Dyke of Saratoga Springs, NY and Alice Eby of Inverness, FL.
At his request there will be no service. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, where military honors will be conducted by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
