Frederick H. Wilhelm, Sr., 81, of Fannettsburg, PA, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 7, 1935 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Harrison Brooke and Ruth Virgil St. Clair Wilhelm. A graduate of the former Dry Run High School, he served honorably in the US Army from 1958-1960. Early in his life he took pride in working alongside his father on the family farm. He was employed for a couple of years at Letterkenny Army Depot and then went on to work at the former DeRose Industries, retiring after 40 years of service. He was of the Protestant faith. A gentle, kind-spirited man, who was loved by all, he was a former member of Wesley Yeager Post 606 American Legion and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, walking in the mountain, mushroom hunting, gardening, and watching NASCAR.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Laura Hann Wilhelm; five sons, Kevin E. Wilhelm, Frederick H. Wilhelm, Jr. (Angee), Timothy J. Wilhelm (Lisa), Rodney L. Wilhelm (Kathy), and Danny L. Wilhelm (Margaret); ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Bricker; two foster children, Emmett Washington and Antoine Coleman; and his dog, Gizmo. In addition to his parent, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Watson.
A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2017 at Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main Street, Dry Run, PA. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
