G. Edward Horn

G. Edward Horn, Jr., 75, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday evening, December 2, 2014 at his home. Born July 2, 1939 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late George Edward Horn, Sr. and Virginia Cramer Horn. Ed was a 1958 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and attended the former Shippensburg State Teacher’s College. He served with Troop F Reconnaissance Squadron, 104th Armored Calvary of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was employed in banking for 43 years starting with the Chambersburg Trust Company and through mergers to M&T Bank as a Branch Manager, Assistant Treasurer, Vice President, and to Senior Vice President and Chief Lending Officer. Following his career in banking, he was employed with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office as a Security Officer and became Supervisor of Security.

He held the following offices and memberships: President of Edenville Ruritan Club, President and Life Member of the Franklin Fire Company, President of the Franklin-Fulton County of American Institute of Banking, Treasurer of Edenville Community Center, Auditor for Hamilton Township, Treasurer of the United Way for 7 years, Treasurer of Nellie Fox Memorial Association for 32 years, member of the Franklin County Builders Association, member of the Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Merchants Council; Deacon and Trustee of The Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, member of the Chambersburg Rotary Club, Member of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, member of the Harry Zeigler Post 6319 VFW, and a member of the Greencastle Sportsman Association. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, spending time at the beach, and treasure hunting with his metal detector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 24 years, Eunice Martin Horn and his sister, Vicki J. Horn Gardner.

He is survived by three sons, Tim Horn and wife Carla of Chambersburg, Terry Horn of Chambersburg, and Troy Horn and wife Chi of Waynesboro; two step-children, Julie Sullivan of New Hampshire and Jason Harrison and wife Jenna of Duncannon, PA; five grandchildren, Brandon, Elise, Erica, Triston, and Kyler; and four step-grandchildren, Mallory and Mikayla Sullivan and Aleah and Brinley Harrison.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 6, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Mark A. Medina officiating. Interment will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
