Gail E. (Calvert) Clopper, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed unexpectedly from this life to her heavenly father, who was awaiting her with open arms on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Born December 4, 1939 in Williamsport, PA, she was a daughter of the late John and Pauline Baer Calvert. Gail was a graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and was employed for twenty-three years at the former Stanley Company. She had most recently been employed at Penn Hall Nursing Center, where she had worked for seven years. Gail was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God and enjoyed attending the Ladies’ Wednesday morning Bible study. She liked helping people and spending time with her family and friends. Gail loved horses and enjoyed working puzzles, reading her Bible, and baby-sitting her great-grandchildren. Her husband, Ronald D. Clopper, whom she married May 1, 1960, preceded her in death on May 30, 2016.
Gail is survived by her daughter, Lorie E. Fortney (William) of South Mountain; her son, Keith Clopper (Crystal) of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Matthew (wife Kelly), Wayne, and Andrew (wife Jenelle) Fortney, Grace (husband Luke) Covalt, and Colton and Jeremy Clopper; seven great-grandchildren, Dominik Adams, Lacy, Grady, Isaac, Jacob, and Noah Fortney, and Caleb Covalt; her sister, Eunice Calvert; and her brother, Richard Calvert (wife Bonnie). In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Bender; and her brother, Wayne Calvert.
A memorial service to celebrate Gail’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Chambersburg First Church of God. Pastor Don Drury will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Private interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
