Gail B. Hartman, age 82 of Chambersburg, PA; passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 19, 1929 in Shippensburg, PA; she was the daughter of the late George M. and Vernal Rotz Bishop.
An educator, Mrs. Hartman taught English and Principles of Democracy at Everett High School until 1955. She was a 1951 graduate of the former Shippensburg State Teachers College. In addition, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Franklin County Farm Women. She had a passion for animals and enjoyed crafts, gardening, spending time with and taking care of her family, and traveling.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 59 years, William Hartman, whom she married on August 9, 1952; her children, Michael B. Hartman (wife Susan) of Walnut Bottom, PA and Michele L. Reilly (husband Scott) of Whittier, CA; one grandson, Adin W. Reilly of Whittier, CA; and one sibling, Lillian Wenger of Chambersburg, PA.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202, with Rev. Ray Kauffman officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
