Gary D. Cox, age 66, of Fayetteville, PA passed away at Chambersburg Hospital on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Born April 23, 1947 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Francis J. Cox and Agnes V. Shatzer.
A 1965 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Gary served in the US Army Reserves during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as an electrician for Frank B. Lesher Co. Inc. from 1968 until his retirement in April of 2012 with 44 years of service. Gary was a member of Hume McNeal Byers AmVETS Post 224 and Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW of Chambersburg. Gary loved his family. He enjoyed remodeling and working around the house, maintaining his vehicles, and having his family and friends over to his home for cookouts and to spend time with them. Gary will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Gary is remembered by his daughter, Jaime Hughes of Chambersburg; his grandson, Kaden Hughes of Chambersburg; two brothers, Larry F. Cox and wife Bonnie of Spring, TX, and Michael L. Cox and wife Anna of Sabillasville, MD; his sister, Thea L. Lent and husband David of Newport News, VA; good friend, Carol Truett of Chambersburg, PA; step-mother Phyllis Hurst; one step-sister; and one step-brother.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10 AM at Parklawns Memorial Gardens; where Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from 7-9 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
