George Rodney Bartle, 79 of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 13, 2017 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born January 4, 1938 in Greencastle, he was a son of the late Ellis and Ruth Shoap Bartle. Mr. Bartle served with the National Guard for eight years. He was employed at the former Dairimaid in Chambersburg and then retired from Harrisburg Dairies in 2000. He had also been employed, part-time, at Lincoln Lanes Bowling Center for nearly forty years. Mr. and Mrs. Bartle attended Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg. He enjoyed gardening and loved his cats.
He is survived by his wife, Mary “Pat” Stewart Bartle, whom he married March 3, 1957; his daughter, Sandy Bartle Finocchi and spouse Maureen of Pittsburgh; grandson Matthew Bartle of Pittsburgh; and five siblings, C. Dean Bartle and wife Joyce of Shippensburg, Ruby C. Kessinger and husband Larry, Naomi Shatzer and husband Paul, Joyce Brown and husband Fred, and Jaye Bartle and wife Treasa, all of Chambersburg. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews; and numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Rodney’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. James Bolich will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
