George Stephen Nas, age 93, of Orrtanna, PA, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Paramount Senior Living. Born January 12, 1931, in Dover, NJ, he was the son of the late Stellas and Minnie Trowbridge Nas.
Mr. Nas served honorably in the United States Coast Guard. He was the owner and operator of George’s Auto Body Shop in Chester, NJ and NASCO, Inc. Mr. Nas was a member of the St. John’s Lodge #260 F. & A. M. in Carlisle. He enjoyed antiquing, the military, Native American artifacts, and American history.
Surviving are five children, Virginia Thrasher of Fayetteville, PA, Jeannette McLaughlin of Fayetteville, PA, Peter Nas of Westminster, MD, Victor Nas (wife Wendy) of Lynchburg, VA, and Constance Eyer (husband Kirby) of Chambersburg, PA; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn V. Nas in 2010, a son, Stephen Nas in 2022, and two siblings.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11 AM in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Pastor Victor Nas will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd. West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
