George M. Weagley, 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 17, 2013 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 26, 1919 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late George Edward and Mary Catherine Miller Weagley. Mr. Weagley served in the US Army. A Pattern Maker by trade, he had been employed at the former Chambersburg Engineering Company and retired at the age of 80 from the Pangborn Corporation in Hagerstown, MD. He was a member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #842, and Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, all in Chambersburg. His wife, Margaret Jane “Pat” Hammond Weagley, preceded him in death on November 27, 2003.
He is survived by two daughters, Connie Pearson and husband Stewart of Gainesville, FL and Fran Baker of Frisco, TX; four grandchildren, Erin Pearson, Amanda Baker, Britt Pearson, and Jenny Garland; as well as five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Frances Ashton.
Friends are invited to a time of visitation and sharing from Noon-2:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Interment with military honors by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will follow at Lincoln Cemetery.
