Gerald McKissick

Gerald G. McKissick, age 77, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital Emergency Room. Born November 22, 1933 in Fryburg, PA, he was the son of the late Glenn J. and Melda Mary Rihel McKissick. .
A US Army veteran during the Korean Conflict, he served his country honorably. Gerald was a truck driver for the Kauffman Group Construction Company in Fairfax, VA, where he retired in 2002. After retirement, Gerald went on to work at Martin’s Pastries, where he has been employed for the last nine years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 46 and AMVETS Post 224, both in Chambersburg and the Farm Bureau. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, gardening and socializing with his friends at the local clubs.

Surviving are his children Paul G. McKissick of New Jersey and Melda Frye (husband William) of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Willaim P. and Joseph V. Frye both of Chambersburg, PA, and one brother, Jay McKissick of Venus, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marlene Thompson McKissick. .

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 11:30 AM; where Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil will officiate. Military honors will be provided by members of the Charles M. Nitterhouse VFW, Post 1599 Honor Guard immediately following the service at the funeral home. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 7-9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be in his name to the Pennsylvania Fraternal Order of Police Foundation, 2949 North Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
