Gerald Rosenberry

Gerald A. “Rosy” Rosenberry, 94, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021, in Specialty Select Hospital, Camp Hill, PA. Born on September 7, 1926, in Upper Strasburg, PA, he was the son of the late Eber and Elmira Rosenberry.
He was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School with the Class of 1945. Rosy served honorably with the US Army during World War II, and continued his service in the US Army Reserves, where he later retired after 30 years of service. He worked as a mail carrier and retired from the United States Postal Service after a 30-year career. During retirement Rosy worked for the former Park-Geisel Funeral Home and then the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home of Chambersburg. He was a life member and Past Post Commander of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, where he proudly served on the Honor Guard. He was a member of the BPOElks Club #600, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #842, and Marine Corp League, all in Chambersburg. He was also a life member and served as a past chaplain for the St. Thomas American Legion Post #612.
He is survived by his step-son, David Ellis, and his wife, Judy, of Waynesboro, PA; a grandson, Matthew Ellis, and his wife, Dixie of Chambersburg; a granddaughter, Karen Ellis Cunha, and her husband, Lucio, of Concord, CA; two great-grandchildren, Keric Ellis and Madison Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021, in Salem Cemetery, Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, with Pastor Art Page officiating. A walk-through viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 3, from 1 – 8 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Brethren Church, 4349 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201; or to a Military or Veteran Charity of your choice (for example, the Order of the Purple Heart or to the Wounded Warrior Project.)
