Geraldine I. “Geri” Johnson, 86, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Chambers Pointe Health Care Center. Born December 11, 1932, in Huntingdon, PA, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Gladys Anderson Isenberg.
Geri was a 1950 graduate of Huntingdon High School. Following her high school education, she completed Secretarial School in Huntingdon, PA. She had most recently worked as a secretary for Quincy Village in Waynesboro, PA, where she was employed for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. Geri was an active volunteer and long time member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also an original member of The Towne Singers, and sang with the group for over 45 years. In addition to her love for singing, she had a great love of animals; especially her beloved pets, Joey and Fluffy.
She is survived by her children; Tim D. Johnson (wife Deb), of Chambersburg, Tom M. Johnson, of Corona, CA, Beth A. Thoresen, of Chambersburg, and Ted J. Johnson (wife Theresa), of Brookville, OH; 7 grandchildren, Sara Barchard (husband Mike), of Jamison, PA, Amy Ruscetti (husband Dave), of Gibsonia, PA, Melissa Dick (husband Cory), of Chambersburg, Tyler Johnson of Columbus, OH, Matthew Thoresen of Norfolk, VA, Caity Johnson of Brookeville, OH, and Charles Johnson of Brookville, OH; 9 great-grandchildren; niece, Sandy Bair; nephew, Chip Briggs; and great-nephews, Josh and Joe Crownover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Johnson, who passed away on April 20, 2013; her sister, Elizabeth Heine, and her grandson, Tanner Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 4, 2019, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 150 Norlo Drive, Fayetteville, PA 17222. Rev. Suzanne Elliott will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Sunday at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Church.
