Geraldine Shoop

Geraldine B. Shoop, age 82, of Spring Run, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 17, 2013. Born September 14, 1930 in Doylesburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Verne and Fannie Mae Shoop Hammond.
Geraldine dedicated 23 years, to the former Stanely Company, where she retired in 1983. In retirement, Geraldine enjoyed spending time with her family, ,cooking, and reading. She was a member of the James W. McCartney Post 232 American Legion Auxiliary, where she served in numerous capacities and offices, including President, three separate times. Prior to her employment at the Stanley Company, she worked for Howard Johnson’s at the former Willow Hill Plaza on the PA Turnpike. She was a member of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed helping with church suppers.
Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Garnet Shoop, whom she married on January 31, 1953; her children, Ronald W. Shoop (wife Kathy) of Shippensburg, Pa, Dotty M. Robinson of Spring Run, PA, and Virginia L. White (husband Peter) of Palmer, AK; three grandchildren, Tiffany Shoop (husband Nathan Hockersmith), Jason L. Robinson (wife April), and LaRae D. Hege (husband Allan); two great-great grandchildren, Paige and Jenna Hege, and two siblings, Glenn Dawson and Mabel Hoover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Berrier.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, 16950 Main St., Spring Run, PA; where Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the church. Interment will follow the service in Upper Path Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 201 Chestnut Ave., PO Box 352, Altoona, PA 16603 or to the above named church and address.
