Germaine Deshong

Germaine Ruth Deshong, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, January 3, 2016 at her home. Born September 26, 1938 in Freeport, ME, she was a daughter of the late Armand and Ruth Lloyd Gardner. She had been employed early in her life at the Mayberry Shoe Store in Rochester, NH and later worked at her family’s orchard, Brown’s Orchard, in St. Thomas, PA. Mrs. Deshong was of the Catholic faith. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was always involved with their activities. She enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, flowers, and bird watching.

She is survived by her husband, George Hayes Deshong, whom she married July 27, 1957; five children, Melody Jansen and husband Randy of Chambersburg, George Deshong and wife Lisa of Wakefield, NH, Troy Deshong of Pittsburgh, PA, Wendy Marshall of Chambersburg, and Scott Gardner and wife Maureen of Hookset, NH; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Peter Gardner and wife Dawna of Stanhope, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Gerard Gardner; a sister, Elizabeth Lajoie; and two grandsons, Shaun Jansen and Marc Duntley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The Rev. Fr. Dominic M. DiBiccaro, will officiate. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from Noon – 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
