Gertrude L. “Gertie” Reichard, age 74, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at her home. Born January 4, 1948, in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late John E. “Bud” Reichard and Esther S. Skelly Reichard.
Gertie was a 1965 graduate of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School. She worked as an accounts receivable clerk at the former Regency Thermographers for 50 years. She was a member of Solomon’s Lutheran Church, where she served on several committees and held several offices. Gertie was also involved with the annual fundraiser “The Play” at church. Gertie was heavily involved in the Family Living 4-H Program, where she served on many committees had traveled to various countries and states. Gertie had also served on the Franklin County Fair Committee. One of her favorite things to do was going for ice cream.
Surviving are three siblings, Edgar Reichard (wife Frances) of Chambersburg, PA, Vickie Reichard Mickey Showalter (husband Lee) of Waynesboro, PA, and Jesse Reichard (wife Tonya) of Waynesboro, PA; nine nieces and nephews, Christopher, Brian, Bradley, Curtis, Christiana, Benjamin, Barbara, and Melinda, and Matthew; and 17 great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 11 AM at Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4856 Grindstone Hill Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202, where Rev. Barbara Barry will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the above church and address or to the Franklin County 4-H Program, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
