Gladys Wise Rosenberry, 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Saturday evening, June 27, 2015 at Menno Haven. Born January 28, 1923 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Vonna Binkley Wise. Her beloved husband Guy W. Rosenberry preceded her in death on June 13, 1995. Active throughout her life, Gladys was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, where she was a member of the Alda Bower Sunday School Class and the Merry Methodist Choir. She was a member of The Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary, a life member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a thirty-eight year volunteer with the American Red Cross Blood Drive, and a member of the Go Club at F&M Trust. She was also an avid bingo player. Gladys spent her working years at the former J.J. Newberry’s Department Store, the former Cherry Lane Dairy, J.C. Penney, and Wise TV and Appliances. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and was an avid fan of Jeff Gordon.
She is survived by 2 sons, Wayne R. Rosenberry and wife Jean of Chambersburg and Larry W. Rosenberry and wife Connie of Blairsville, GA; four grandchildren, Wanda Sellers, Jeff Rosenberry, Jennifer Wheeler and Janice Hiler; eight great- grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Wise of Chambersburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 3, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. John Ile will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
