Glenn Zimmerman

Glenn E. Zimmerman, age 88, of Carlisle, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Forest Park Health Center and Rehabilitation in Carlisle, PA. Born June 14, 1927, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Lloyd E., Sr. and Edna Hetrick Zimmerman.
A 1945 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mr. Zimmerman went on to work on and repair watches until he was called to serve in the U. S. Army, during the Korean conflict. Upon his discharge, he went to work at Letterkenny Army Depot for over 30 years, retiring in 1986 as a Quality Assurance Specialist. Mr. Zimmerman was a member of St. John’s UCC, and a life member of the VFW Post 1599, and Post 477 in Carlisle, the Chambersburg Club, Franklin Fire Company, and George Washington Lodge F. & A. M. 143. He enjoyed photography, watch making and repair and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Sherry Florig Zimmerman, whom he married on July 15, 1956, and his daughter, Stephanie L. Fahnestock (husband Richard) of Carlisle, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Zimmerman, Jr.
Graveside services will be private at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. Military honors will be rendered by members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Better Days Animal League, P.O. Box 57, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
