Gloria Dorsett

Gloria J. Dorsett, 73, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital with her husband at her side. Born December 17, 1947 in Mechanicsburg, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Charlotte Rowe Bucher. Gloria was a graduate of the Cumberland Valley High School. She was a talented self-taught organist, serving numerous congregations over many years, last gracing the organ of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Greencastle. Gloria was a member of the Chambersburg Country Club. She loved to golf and achieved two holes-in-one during her lifetime. She also liked playing cards; going to the casino; and outdoor work, especially gardening. Above all else, she loved being with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Steven D. Dorsett, whom she married June 30, 2002; two daughters, Sarah Tatanish (Alex) and Sarah’s son Cole Brenneman, and Martha Miller (Steven Werni) and their children Nadia Miller and Aidan Werni; and two step-children, Garrick Dorsett (Dewi) and their daughter Sophia Dorsett, and Renee Peters (Sam) and their children Seth and Zoey Peters.

Services will be private. The family wishes to express their deep thanks to the doctors and nurses of Chambersburg Hospital for their compassion and care in this most difficult time. They also request that anyone wishing to remember Gloria should please do so by making a contribution to their own favorite charity. She believed that giving to help another is the most sacred opportunity.
