Gloria Petra

March 14, 1934 — April 15, 2018

Gloria Ann Petra, 84, passed away at her home on Sunday, April 15, 2018, with her family by her side. Born March 14, 1934, in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Pauline Benson O’Brien.
Mrs. Petra worked as a High School Registrar at Paramus High School in New Jersey for 25 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, reading, painting, and was famous for her Chocolate Chip Cookies. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are two children, Sheryl Petra of Manchester, NH and Donald Petra of Fayetteville; granddaughter, Rebecca Petra McGregor (husband, Shane) of Lutz, FL; two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Julia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald L. Petra in 2012; and a sister, Eileen Fisher.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, where the Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Chris and Kelly’s Hope Foundation, c/o The Community Foundation of Greenville, 630 E. Washington St., Suite A, Greenville, SC 29601.
