Gloria Wallen

Gloria “Jean” (Betts) Wallen, 75, of Chambersburg, PA passed away the morning of Thursday, April 21, 2022 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 10, 1946 in Waynesboro, PA she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Rachel (Smith) Betts.

She attended Biglerville Area Schools. Jean was employed as a skiver at the Hanover Shoe Factory for over 33 years. She volunteered at the Heidlersburg Fire Company and cleaned homes on the side. More than anything Jean loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Leroy “Whitey” Wallen who she married July 9, 1964; two children, Donna Reinhart and her husband William and James “Jim” Wallen and his wife Mariella both of New Oxford, PA; three grandchildren, Amanda Becker (Barry), Rachel Miller (Ashley) and Ryan Wallen; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Alana Becker; four siblings, Darlene Blocher (Ron), Karen Henry, Roger Betts and Debbie Betts; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three siblings, Joyce Wilkinson, Betty Myers, and Christine Betts.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 26, 2022 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Pastor Darrell Baer officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning in the funeral home.
