Goldie Lovins Farris, age 88, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at the Shook Home on Sunday, February 5, 2017. Born January 5, 1929, in Rock Castle, KY, she was the daughter of the late Rothel Ester Lovins and Elsie Mink Lovins.
Mrs. Farris was a 1947 graduate of Nancy High School in Nancy, KY. An employee of Wilson College and F&M Trust, Goldie worked in Data Processing. Goldie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles Jacob Farris, whom she married on April 10, 1955; a daughter, Catherine E. Farris (husband Scott Ruark) of Baltimore, MD; a grandson, Jacob L. Ruark; and her half-siblings, Ronald and Truman Lovins and Ruby Gastineau and Lynne Lovelace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Lovins and half-brothers, James, Jack, Glenn, Charles, and Bill Lovins and half-sisters, Aleda Orlett and Bonnie Garland.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 10 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 431 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Sharon F. Kelly, PhD and Rev. Hebert Spomer will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 6 – 8 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA 17202. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the above church and address.
