Grace E. “Peg” Commerer, 93, of Shippensburg, PA passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at Shippensburg Rehab and Healthcare Center. Born June 10, 1930 in Shippensburg she was the daughter of the late George R. and Elsie E. Porter Shannon.
She was employed as a seamstress at the former Greif Pants Company, Shippensburg. Peg was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg; AARP, and the Wood Carver Club of Shippensburg.
She is survived by her son, Jack L. Ordway and his wife Linda of Chambersburg; two grandsons, Chad M. Ordway of Chambersburg, PA and Dr. Ryan S. Ordway and his wife Melissa of New York; four great-grandchildren Abby, Amaya, Liam, and Landon; two siblings, Bonita Gutshall and Terry Shannon; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William K. Commerer who passed away April 27, 2008; a son, Timothy Commerer; and two siblings, Ronald E. Shannon and Janet “Louise” Fridinger.
A memorial service will held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2023 in Memorial Lutheran Church, 34 E. Orange Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257 with Pastor Godfred Effisah officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children at donate.lovetotherescue.org.
