Grace E. Mackey, 87, formerly of Brandon Drive, Chambersburg, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in the Village of Laurel Run, Adams County. Born on March 31, 1924 Letterkenny Twp., she was a daughter of the late George M. Diehl and Hazel Myers Diehl. She was the widow of Calvin L. Mackey, who preceded her in death on May 12, 2010.
Grace was a member of St. Thomas Assembly of God. A wife, mother and homemaker, she worked at the former Stanley Clothing Company years ago. She also assisted her husband, Calvin, in their day-to-day operation of their sawmill business. She also enjoyed raising potatoes and strawberries, which she sold from their home.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Hampton (and husband, Norman) of Chambersburg; a son-in-law, Eddy Knoll, Sr. of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Melody Henry, Eddy Knoll, Jr., Melissa Poe, Michael Hampton, Shane Knoll, and Kelly Thunde; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Gladys Horst, Dorothy Zullinger, and Esther Pugh (and husband, Raymond); and two brothers, George Diehl Jr. and Harold Diehl (and wife, Shirley). In addition to her husband, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Knoll on February 3, 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Alvin Hezlep officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
