Grace Wagner

March 16, 1922 — October 20, 2015

Grace Wagner, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 16, 1922 in Yeaddis, KY, she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Katie Adams Joseph.

Grace leaves behind a wonderful legacy and memories of growing up in the “rugged mountains of Kentucky”. After her husband’s lengthy career in the U.S. Army, the family settled in Chambersburg in 1962. Grace was a homemaker most of her life, going to work outside of the home only after her children were grown. She retired from K-Mart in Chambersburg. Grace was a member of AARP and the K-Mart Girls Retirement Club. She enjoyed quilting, and traveling. Grace was known as an honorable, strong, and caring person. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys in her life.

Grace is survived by two children, Donald Wagner (Becky) of Chambersburg, and Shirley Kibler (Earl) of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Ann-Marie Rathmell (Barry) of Jonestown, PA, David Beardsley of Mechanicsburg, and Michael Beardsley (Christie) of Mechanicsburg; five great-grandchildren, Ben, Katie, Seth, Charlotte, and Greyson; two sisters, Sue Bell and Nancy McCann, both of FL; and a daughter-in-law, Nanci Wagner of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents, Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde L. Wagner; three children, Gene Sullivan, Alice Lynn Epperhart, and Karl Wagner; and six siblings, Homer, Mavy, Hobert, Junior, Leonard, and Edith Joseph.

A funeral service will be held to honor Grace’s life at 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 24, 2015 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Chaplain Adam Leeper will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Menno Haven Benevolent Care, c/o Menno Haven Gift Planning Services, 2011 Scotland Ave. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
