Gregory Thomas

Gregory R. Thomas, Sr., 63, of St. Thomas, PA, passed away Saturday evening, May 24, 2014 at his home. Born December 20, 1950 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Edgar Leroy and Shirley Mae Reed Thomas. Greg was employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator at the former Charles E. Brake Company in St. Thomas and was last employed by Leon E. Wintermyer, Inc., prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to his son’s cabin. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Greg is survived by his wife, Cinda Johns Thomas, whom he married March 25, 1967; three children, Gregory R. Thomas, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Chambersburg, Dennis R. Thomas of St. Thomas, and Brenda R. Clevenger and husband John of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Kristian A. Thomas, Samanthia R. Shultz, Tylor R. Thomas, Gregory R. Thomas, III, Nicole E. Thomas, and Tiffany A. Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Zoey, Bailee, Mackenzie, Sarah, Daizey Mae, and Remington; and his brother, Dwight Edgar Thomas and wife Patricia of Fayetteville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Cody Ray Thomas in 1999 and Jonathan Ray Thomas in 2007; his sister, Cheryl; and his brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2014 in The Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Harold E. Yeager officiating. Interment will follow at Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon, PA. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
