Gwendolyn Smith

Gwendolyn C. Smith, age 72, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the Manor Care Rehab Center. Born in Fulton County on November 27, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Raymond G. and Nelda S. Carlin Snyder.

Mrs. Smith worked in various positions at Letterkenny Army Depot, until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Community Pentecostal Mission in St. Thomas.

Surviving is her husband of 43 years, Donald B. Smith, whom she married on August 8, 1970; her daughter, Angela Leisher (husband Robert), three four legged grandchildren, Lily, Tugger, and Reagan, and two siblings, Donald Snyder (wife Margaret) of Shade Gap, PA and Kathy Hershey of Shippensburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her four legged granddaughter, Lexi.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11 AM at Salem United Brethren Church, 4349 Letterkenny Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Art Page and Pastor John E. Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 384 Floral Ave., Chambersburg, PA.
