H. Jeanne Lowry Hill, 89, of Tucson, AZ (resident since 2005) and formerly of Fayetteville, PA, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Tucson. Born October 18, 1924 in Uniontown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Jane Morris. She graduated from Uniontown High School. During WWII she worked at the National Association of Broadcasters in Washington, DC. Her first husband, the late Hal Lowry, II founded the former Hal Lowry Ford in Chambersburg in 1964. Mrs. Hill was a member of The Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring where she had served as Sunday School secretary, Bible School secretary, and as a Deacon. She volunteered with the Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, and the Children’s Aide Society, and was a member of the Soroptimist Club, the local and national chapters of AARP and the Fountainhead Country Club.
She is survived by her loving son, Robert S. Lowry and wife Mary of Tucson, AZ; her grandchildren Sherri Lowry Leahy, husband Jeff and adored great grandson Jace of Phoenix AZ; grandson Robert Lowry II and wife Elaine Gale of Sacramento, CA; granddaughter Monica Lowry of Tucson, AZ; grandson Ryan Lowry of Flagstaff, AZ; step-son, Robert Hill of Chambersburg, PA; step-daughter, Susan Hill Macciocca, husband Anthony and step-granddaughter Ashley of Williamstown, NJ. In addition to her parents, two sisters and first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Joseph A. Hill; and two sons, Richard W. Lowry and Ronald E. Lowry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday January 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with The Rev. Dr. William H. Harter and Rev. Mark A. Medina officiating. Entombment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
